October Q&A: Cerys

What is your diagnosis and what age were you diagnosed?

I was diagnosed with limb girdle muscular dystrophy at 8 years old, before I started to show symptoms around 12 years old.

What’s your go-to pick me up on a hard day?

music!! always. putting on a dance/happy playlist instantly helps me get out of any sad mood and its helped me so much through some hard times throughout the years.

What is something positive you’ve experienced because of your diagnosis?

the LGMD community is honestly the best thing that’s come out of having the diagnosis. I’ve made so many friends and met some incredible people. we can share advice and relate to our experiences which makes such a difference to living life knowing we’re not alone. 💚

Who’s your role model and why?

probably my parents and my grandmother. they’ve taught me some incredible life lessons and helped me self advocate and be resilient. but also I’m now sharing my life online for my younger self who had no one like her to look up to. so also myself, if that counts haha!

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice what would it be?

I love this question! I would say that you know your body better than anyone, so take your time to understand it and get to know your limits. also that life is still gonna look good even with LGMD!

Where can we find your content?

let’s connect on social media! I’m @cerysdavage on instagram, tiktok, facebook and youtube (where I also do long form vlogs), and you can find my podcast, Unbalanced with Cerys Davage, on any podcast platform (Spotify, Apple podcasts etc) and the same Youtube account ✨
